It is unsure what this is, however, I believe that it was bottled in the mid-1800s. I think the Madeira was probably a Solera, but could have been a Vintage, despite being labelled as Old Reserve, from the 1790s. 1793, 1795 and 1798 were all five star years. It tasted to me like a Terrantez or a Verdelho. Bright orange rim, very orange bronze color. Very high acid nose, extremely old, probably Verdelho on the nose. Palate was incredibly concentrated and spirity, hot and very dry. Searing acidity. After a while it tasted medium dry, slightly off dry. It could have been a drying out Bual, but more likely a Terrantez or Verdelho. *****
