High in Acidity, Warming, Medium tannin, Multi-dimensional, Well-structured, Youthful, Full-bodied, Focused, Fruity, Fragrant, Medium-Dry and Silky tannins

Written Notes

Opaque with a purple rim. There is a stewed plum, slightly edgy note here with some herbal characters. Soft, subtle fruit and hints of leather. But through this emerge some really attractive and quite powerful plum notes. Has reasonable length though one might expect a smidge more. And slightly grainy tannins. In the past, I’ve loved the '4 Acres' in both the 2007 and 2009 vintages (a serious contender for top wine from the Hunter on occasion) and might have been inclined, for a competition where we are looking for the best made, to have gone with the latter. Though to be honest, I would have thought that this wine would have impressed even more than it did.
