The Story

The usual blend is a full 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, with 25% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, reflecting roughly the plantings within the vineyard itself, and recent replanting has been intended to maintain this high level of Cabernet Sauvignon. Average age of vines 40 years.

However, I was traveling to Bordeaux and had the chance to get a first taste of the 2019 vintage. Written Notes

Dark purple colour with violet hue and almost black core. Exuberant nose with aroma reminiscent of ripe blackcurrants and blackberries, gingerbread spices, vanilla and balmy hints, slight flowery components in the background. On the palate well balanced with excellent structure, rich taste with freshness, ripe tannins and multilayered fruit, excellent length and the best Marquis d'Alesme ever tasted en primeur.
