Compared to the Le Vigne, the 2013 Aleste is slightly deeper and richer. Coming all from the Cannubi Boschis vineyard and aged 18 months in 500-liter French oak, it reveals incredible notes of black currants, blackberries, ground herbs, licorice, and smoked tobacco. Possessing medium to full-bodied richness, a stacked mid-palate, and serious amounts of tannin, it’s an incredible wine, yet certainly not for those seeking instant gratification. ...

The Story

ALESTE is the natural continuity of Luciano's first wine, the Barolo Cannubi Boschis, which garnered Luciano his early acclaim with the international trade and press. Giving all the experience, knowledge, patience and passion of his many harvests, Luciano pays tribute, with boldness and sensibility, to the next family generation: "ALESTE" is in fact the combination of the names of his grandchildren ALEssia and STEfano.

Evolution of the vintage 2013 / Overall, it was a season characterized by a dual personality: after an initial cool and rainy phase, we had a second warmer and drier period that allowed the fruit to recover strongly and achieve highly satisfying results.

Even though the bud break took place during a period characterized by low temperatures and frequent rainfalls which made us fear a serious quality loss, by June the atmospheric conditions...

Good looking normal size bottle, in an perfect condition and has by the neck level. Colour is ruby red, and looking healthy, deep and youthful . On the nose it is open, intense, fresh, seductive, tempting and pure. The taste is harmonious, rich, focused, fruity, fragrant, with silky tannins, full-bodied, with perfectly balanced, multi-dimensional, well-structured and concentrated structure. On the palate it is layered and has dried-fruit, mineral, tropical fruits, truffles, vanilla, blackberry, leather, honey, cassis and cedar flavours. The finish is long, extensive, lingering and flavorful. This wine is sophisticated, fine and excellent. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 20-30 years and decant at least 2h before tasting. Good value for money.

Inside Information

ALESTE 2013 is the result of a classic year.

Its aromatic complexity is expressed at every turn of the glass. The aromatic hints of Asian spices, oak and black fruits are simply captivating. As is typical for cooler vintages, there are significant floral tones of rose petals and hibiscus. These are supplemented by aromas of cigar, cedar, black licorice and white ground pepper.

On the palate, the sense of volume is palpable, dominated by dark sweet cherries and black raspberries. This is a wine that delights all the senses. There is indeed a vibrancy, which gives personality to this wine, and the freshness of the acidity balances the opulent tannins.
