The Story

When to enjoy Daumas Gassac red vintages

If your cellar is cool (12-16° C) you can lay down your Daumas Gassac for several years.

Equally, if your cellar is not cool enough and you fear the wine may not age well, you’ll thoroughly enjoy your Daumas Gassac while it’s young, say 2, 3 – up to 5 - years after bottling.

Written Notes

Bought soon after release. Perfect level, perfect cork.

What a pleasant surprise! Dark, healthy and clear colour. At first the nose seemed a little unclean with flavours of underwood, older barrels, a little bit of garrigue, dried herbs. Its taste however was delicious from the beginning, herbs again, red berries and a really nice sweetness. Like an old style Bordeaux infused with some ripe Syrah and Grenache. I liked it very much and it even got better with air. The bouquet changed completely within the nex half hour, now it was clean and seductive, the sweetness of ripe berries plus the warm southern France character. I recommend to decant this wine, if properly stored, for two hours. Good bottles can be kept another decade, but it is perfect now. I doubt that it will improve further on. So don't miss this stadium and enjoy!
