Pinot Noir 2019

In a line-up of 25 other Western Australian pinot noirs, this is the shiniest on the table. Seems an odd thing to observe, but it is luminescent – it shines with its own energy. On the nose it has black cherry, strawberry and tapenade. The herbs run to the bay leaf, sage end of the spectrum, while the acidity provides a burst of life and energy on the palate. The palate follows as the nose has dictated; this is a delicate, fine boned and nuanced pinot with bucket loads of fruit concentration and spice.
As always, with the Picardy house style, this is structural and shapely, defined by chalky tannins. In terms of ‘comparison’ to the previous, great vintage 2018, this is cut from the same cloth. Perhaps a touch finer, but lacking in no department, and as long as ever. Another triumphant Pinot Noir from Picardy.
