Written Notes

Grenache, 62%; Mourvedre, 12%; Shiraz, 15%; Carignan, 6%; Cinsault, 3%; Carignan, 6%. A true Southern Rhone blend beyond the usual suspects of Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvedre; each component handled separately, prior to final assemblage.

Smells a touch rooty on opening, again I stress there's no bunch component, yet 50% whole berry. It's light, slick and racy across the palate - a juiciness that cannot be escaped and fails not to freshen. A light rub of tannin, gentle maceration ensuring a fine extraction and delivering length. No artifice, all expression of fine fruit and the winemaker's craft. 92

What deliciousness again from Yangarra. This Yangarra Noir 2019 is a blend of 62% Grenache, 15% Shiraz, 12% Mourvedre, 6% Carignan, 3% Cinsault, 2% Counoise. It’s smashable red wine of obvious appeal. All fruit, it’s a showcase for McLaren Vale Grenache, but layered with darker fruit, mint, herbs. It’s pure, long and vibrant and yet approachable – a simply winning wine

Not for keeping, it’s the perfect immediate choice. Best drinking: now and over the next 5 odd years (maybe more, but you run the risk of losing that joyful fruit). 18/20, 93/100. 14%, $27. Yangarra website. Would I buy it? Absolutely.
