Cacchiano Castle was the property of the Ricasoli-Firidolfi Barons, one of the oldest families in Tuscany, until the eleventh century. Winemaking

The wines “Castello di Cacchiano” are produced by the vinification of the best grapes originating exclusively from the vineyards owned by the farm. The bottling is carried out solely in the farm.

The production area is the tableland of Monti in Chianti. The vineyards are situated at an altitude that ranges from 380 to 420 m (1,247 – 1,312 feet) above sea level. Most of them have a southern exposure.

Inside information

The Castle maintained its function as a fortalice defending the territory until the middle of the 16th century when it was transformed into a villa and into a farm. During the past centuries the first medieval and Renaissance walls were enlarged and some new buildings as well as a small church were built so that the Castle  has taken on the aspect of a stately fortified Castle complex.
