History

Even though the first vintage from Clos de Chacras is from 2004, it was built on 1921 and was part of a larger project called “Bodegas y Viñedos Gargantini”. The first generation of the Gargantini family arrived to Argentina from Switzerland at the end of the 19th century. Originally, they lived in the Italian-speaking city of Ticino.

Vineyards

The grapes for these wines grow in some of the best and well-known regions in Mendoza: Uco Valley (Gualtallary and La Consulta), Luján de Cuyo (Chacras de Coria) and Maipú (Lulunta).

Winemaking

Nowadays, all of the wine that Clos de Chacras produces is fermented in concrete tanks that have been upgraded with new technology. The capacity of each does not exceed 14.000 liters.

Aging takes place in French and American oak barrels located in an underground cellar. Then, after bottling, the wine is stored for a few months or even years.
