BECKSTOFFER DR. CRANE VINEYARD
We were extremely excited when we added this vineyard to our portfolio with the 2007 harvest. The Dr.Crane Vineyard, known for producing some Napa Valley "greats," was first harvested in 1858. It sits on a deep alluvial fan produced by Sulfur Springs Creek. Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard Its profile allows excellent drainage combined with the slow, even-ripening patterns enjoyed by premium vineyards. The current vineyard was replanted in 1998 by Andy Beckstoffer. A large cache of prestigious wineries produce wine from its fruit. We have selected seven rows of Clone 337 Cabernet Sauvignon where we have ability to control the crop management and picking brix.
We enjoy working with this vineyard. Its heady, valley-floor fruit components nicely complement our Spring Mountain lot.
BECKSTOFFER GEORGES III VINEYARD
Sitting on an old rocky creek bed adjacent to Conn Creek, this vineyard has soils intermixed with loam and red volcanic clay. The vineyard has the excellent drainage and abundant sun exposure needed to produce wines of extraordinary body and complexity. The 337 clone of Cabernet Sauvignon thrives in this environment!
Look for wines from this site to carry blue and black fruits in its core and to produce wines with amazing texture and length due to the exceptional hang time we can achieve from it.
LAS MADRES VINEYARD
We first worked with Las Madres in 2004 with Thomas Brown. Immediately we knew our Syrah would come from this vineyard. The terroir, location and personality of the fruit are unmatchable. Las Madres VineyardLocated a mile (as the crow flies) from Sonoma, the vineyard enjoys cool breezes from San Pablo Bay while nestled in a protected bowl where it captures the intense California sun. The vineyard has two clones, planted East to West in two blocks - Esther and Hulda. The fruit for our Syrah comes from both blocks, allowing us to create complexity from the day it is picked.
Las Madres Vineyard produces a notably rich and healthy wine, deep in color, yet elegant and vibrant. The finished wine reveals well-focused layers of black figs finishing with a classic Syrah ‘meatiness’ and white pepper overtones.
THREE TWINS VINEYARD
Opportunity was knocking with the invitation to produce wine from this new prominent vineyard. Propped up on the northern slopes above Lake Hennessey, the Three Twins Vineyard shares the same micro climate with several prominent Napa valley vintners carrying 98-100 point wines.
The cool breezes across Lake Hennessey have a tempering effect during the hot summer on our clone 337 Cabernet Sauvignon while their orientation takes full advantage of the abundant sunshine for ripening. Planted in rich soils, which are a mixture of volcanic ash and an under layer of gravel and flint, the grapes harvested from this vineyard showcase a jammy ‘fruit forward’ style reminiscent of valley floor flavors but also hold a belly full of refined silky tannins. Wine from this vineyard delivers exceptional levels of power in the mid palate along with structure for the long haul.
