Winemaker Sean Boyd has selected four vineyards from which to source our fruit – Stillwater Creek, Connor Lee, Dineen and Artz.
Stillwater Creek Vineyard is a 235 acre site on the Royal Slope of the Frenchman Hills. Planted in 2000 on a steep, south-facing slope with one of the most diverse clone selections in Washington State, Stillwater Creek quickly has earned a reputation as one of the Columbia Valley’s top vineyards.
The site’s fractured rock and extreme southern exposure are ideal for reds, especially Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. White grapes are planted on a mixture of fractured rock and areas of fine sandy loam.
Temperatures during the growing season favor warm days and cool nights. Grapes ripen beautifully under these conditions, enhanced by both hours of light per day during the summer and the total number of sunlight days from bud-break through harvest.
Connor Lee Vineyards Bill Conner and Rhoady Lee knew from the beginnning in the late 1980’s that their mission and goal was clear: Be One of the Best Vineyards in Washington State. The 150 acre vineyard ranges in elevation from 1000 to 1100 feet with south facing slopes. Varietals Grown: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Malbec, Merlot Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Viognier. Columbia Valley AVA
Dineen Vineyards is located in the Yakima Valley AVA just north of the city of Zillah, Washington, in a unique hill-top area that is especially well suited for growing premium wine grapes. Dineen Vineyards began planting in the spring of 2001 and continues to add annually to the planted acreage. Currently 65 acres are under vine with another 12 acres of open ground scheduled for future planting. Their neighbors include the well recognized vineyards of Andrew Will, Sheridan, Two Mountain, and new up-and-comer, Ramseyer Vineyards. Varietals planted include: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Syrah, Semillion, Viognier, Roussanne and Riesling.
Artz Vineyards is located on Red Mountain and is owned by Fred and Jorja Artz. The vineyard is positioned with a slight northerly slope which protects it from strong western-slope winds. Varietals produced include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.
