The Story

Chateau Lanessan has belonged to the Bouteiller family since the 18th century. Eight generations of the same family have therefore succeeded in leading the estate. In August of 2009 Paz Espejo took over the direction of the Chateau. This change of direction corresponds to the strong commitment of the Bouteiller family to this beautiful property. "The challenge is to remain faithful to our terroir while adapting to consumer expectations. "

Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot.

32 hectares (79 acres) of 30-year-old vines growing in deep Garonne gravel beds.

Mechanically harvested when the fruit is optimally ripe. It is sorted with optical screening equipment.

Fermented in coated concrete tanks equipped with temperature control. The winemaking techniques, pumping over, rack and return are used according to the needs of the vintage and the fruit.

Vintage 2020

In Bordeaux, the heat led to early flowering. Additionally, this led to an early harvest after a very hot summer. As a starting point, there is great maturity in the grapes, and we can expect a more opulent vintage than in recent years.

This year's summer was the hottest since 1959, but the rain fell at just the right time during the growing season. The harvest took place two weeks before the norm and will produce grapes with high alcohol potential and the lowest acidity since the 2003 vintage. As they say in Bordeaux: “It was a good and extreme growing season which , hopefully, also produces great wines.”

Written Notes

Dark purple colour with violet hue and almost black core. Refined nose with aroma reminiscent of ripe blackcurrants, blackcurrant spurs and hints of blackberries, hints of mild spices, vanilla and subtle oak in the background. On the palate ripe and silky texture, lush fruit, discreet spiciness and toasting, balanced tannins and very good length.
