Written Notes

Dark, bright-rimmed garnet. An expressive bouquet displays red and black currant, dried cherry, cigar box, vanilla, rose oil and cured tobacco scents plus a baking spice top note. Appealingly sweet and energetic red and dark berry, floral pastille and chewing tobacco flavors show tight focus and spicy cut. Candied rose and vanilla notes linger on the long, lively finish, which is framed by smooth, well-judged tannin's. Drinking window: 2021 - 2032. Antonio Galloni, Vinous 94p

Tondonia's reds have been on an upward curve recently and are now at the same level as the bodega's world-class whites. This is a fine, elegant, savoury, low-alcohol blend of Tempranillo with 20% Garnacha and 5% each of Mazuelo and Graciano, combining summer berry fruit, racy acidity, granular tannins and an earthy, balsamic undertone. Good now, but this will develop further in bottle.

A classic Rioja with a blend of Tempranillo (70%), Garnacha (20%), Graciano and Mazuelo (10%). This wine is traditionally made and aged for 6 years in barrels, with 2 rackings per year. Clarified with fresh egg whites, bottled unfiltered.

As you can see in its tasting in visual phase, it presents a very wine red color, with a lot of brilliance in the glass. In movement, the usual tile reflections that are seen in all vintages of this wine, indicative of long aging and evolution.

In this vintage it presents a complex but really fine and elegant nose, with lots of fresh fruit although it may seem incredible to you, with subtle contributions from the aging such as toasted aromas, vanilla, licorice, mineral background. A nose with medium-high intensity but with a very balanced and frank aromatic set.

The palate presents a dry attack, with an elegant, silky passage, fruit and aging hand in hand, which allows to have in front of a wine with a great structure, round in the passage through the palate. A really sweet wine.
