History
Our founder Don Emilio Moro is born. An event that was the begining of a great vitiviniculture odyssey for the Moro family. In this year, the historic vineyard Finca Resalso was planted.
José Moro, current president of Bodegas Emilio Moro, decided to take the next step and commercialise the wine that his father and grandfather had dedicated their lives to. He invested all the family's savings in a press, which has evolved over the years into what we now know as the Emilio Moro Winery.
1988 The Moro family launches itself totally into the business venture on an even greater scale with the purchase of its first cellar with cement and concrete depositories. At the same time more machinery was added though the desire was still as great as in the initial days when the labels were applied with a brush and glue and the bottles were washed by hand to be re-used.
In 1989 the Emilio Moro brand was born and joined the range of wines with the Denomination of Ribera de Duero origin. Therefore, this was the first vintage of the Emilio Moro wine, today the most representative wine from the winery.
1998 Malleolus is born and, with it, the catagories of Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva are dropped to allow each wine to have its own personality and character under its particular brand name: Finca Resalso, Emilio Moro and Malleolus.
2000 Malleolus de Valderramiro is born from the oldest of the familiy's vineyards. The new winery is inaugerated in its totality: 3.500 square metres, perfectly equipped, with new services for guided visits, direct sales and restaurante facilities. 2002 Malleolus de Sanchomartín is born, the most notable example of a single-estate wine from Bodegas Emilio Moro.
