The Story

Barolo Cannubi is the flagship wine of Damilano.

Born from the noble Nebbiolo varietal cultivated in Barolo, this wine benefits from the generous, calcareous-clay soil with a good quantity of sand that is found on the prestigious Cannubi hill. An old vine wine, Barolo Cannubi is crafted from vineyards planted in 1935 with desirable southern exposure.

The wine has a striking garnet, ruby red color with subtle orange reflections. It has an ample nose with evident notes of cherry and plum that evolve into hints of tobacco, liquorice and cocoa. On the palate, it has a harmonic flavor that is pleasantly dry, with soft tannins and full body. Serve at a temperature 61°F to 63°F to best enjoy the range of sensations this wine expresses.

Written Notes

A bottle with great potential, although it belongs to a difficult harvest.
It nose is thickness, full of aromatic herbs, under-spirit cherry and violet petals and a light toasting/smoking in tertiary. It is full-bodied and tastes sapid giving a great tannic sensation, which is never too aggressive, but smooth instead. The finish is a balsamic crescendo.

  • 96p

Bright garnet red with brick red hue. Aromatic nose, quite complex, earthy minerality, hints of violets, smoky character, quite classic nose. On the palate well structured with opulent mouthfeel, ripe tannins, fine acidity, excellent length.
