The Story

St Hugo wines honour the legacy of Hugo Gramp who was a visionary leader and managing director of Gramp & Sons winery from 1920 to 1938. The brand was first launched in 1983 with the inaugural 1980 vintage of St Hugo Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon.  Since 2011 the esteemed St Hugo label also offers a Barossa Shiraz, which draws its power from the richness that is typical of Shiraz grown in this region, while also incorporating parcels of fruit that show more restraint and it is this restraint that brings elegance to St Hugo Barossa Shiraz.

Written Notes

A move to a kinder, gentler style of Barossa shiraz. Terrific supple palate with black fruits and cherry notes. Very fine tannins. Maintains intensity on a long finish. 93.
