The Story

Within the estate there is a very individual parcel, set apart, which was found to produce wines of a very particular, unique character and personality which everyone in the team decided ought to be fostered, a rare blend. Like Masseto in the past, Vigna Lodovico, provides the Biserno estate’s jewel in the crown.  Lodovico is an extraordinary wine, produced in tiny amounts and only in vintages where all the elements come together to create the very best possible translation of this site. The vineyard is managed, throughout the year, with passion and rigorous attention to details. To date, the Marchese’s perfectionism has only allowed five vintages to be released, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2013 averaging 6.000 bottles per vintage.

Written Notes

Dark, deep purple colour. Refined and intense nose charms with its great open complexity – ripe black fruits, dark chocolate and cacao, rich toastiness, and seductive spiciness. Full-bodied palate is silky smooth, round and rich, intensely vibrant and vivid. A complete wine that delivers a lot already now but will bloom in next 5-10 years and last for years after that. If served now, decant for 4 hours and serve at 17-18C with Tournedos Rossini and sweet potato fries – JL 97p (11/2018)
