In reference to its expressive character, the coloured spots convey the AROMATIC Explosion in mouth when tasting this original cuvée. Definitely pop, with bright and striking colours, the « CUVÉE EXPRESSION » underlines Beaumont des Crayères' diffusion in more than 25 countries. To celebrate this international reach, the bottle is tagged of 6 different languages. Components and fruity notes depict the cuvée and reflect the gourmand style of the House.

Historia

In 1955, a group of wine growers from the rolling countryside around Epernay founded Beaumont des Crayères Champagne in Mardeuil. With 85 hectares currently under vine in the very heart of Champagne, the house now markets approximately 600,000 bottles across the 5 continents.

 

For Beaumont des Crayères Champagne, such a level of self-sufficiency in fruit provides an extraordinary guarantee of quality and diversity. It makes it one of only a few houses able to apply ruthless selection techniques from the vineyard through to the bottle, whereby only the finest components are kept at each stage of the wine making process.

 

Enjoying critical acclaim within the industry and regularly awarded accolades in many countries, the outstanding quality of Beaumont des Crayères Champagne rapidly secured the house extensive international exposure. Hence, 70% of its Champagnes are exported. Its broad range of Champagnes is now marketed in France and abroad in a selection of wine merchants, Champagne bars and gourmet restaurants.

 

As further proof of its quality across the globe, ISO 22000 certification was awarded to Beaumont des Crayères Champagne in 2014. It endorses a high level of expertise, the traceability of its Champagnes and its commitment to land conservation for future generations.

The quality of its grapes is primarily what makes Beaumont des Crayères a great Champagne. The expertise of its 250 member growers is instrumental in promoting this quality. All year round, come rain, come shine, they keep a close eye on their vines to ensure they produce the finest grapes. Three-quarters of Beaumont des Crayères' vineyards are located on the outskirts of Epernay, in the village of Mardeuil. The house also boasts plots in Damery, Cumières, Hautvillers and Dizy as well as in Pierry, Vinay and Epernay.

 

Due to the specific characteristics of its soils and particularly its climate, wine growing is a challenging occupation in Champagne. Technical skills and passion are required to ensure vines thrive in this northerly region. From pruning and training through to harvesting, most work in the vineyard is done by hand. And out of respect for this unique natural heritage, the wine growers have been applying the principles of sustainable culture for a long time.

 

At the end of the summer, technical staff at Beaumont des Crayères track the pace of ripening as soon as the grapes start to change colour, so as to adjust the rate of harvesting depending on conditions each year. By monitoring ripeness, they can also select single-vineyard sites that are home to the best quality vines - these are earmarked for the prestige cuvees. The grapes are selected depending on their quality and degree of ripeness as soon as they are picked and undergo further checks on their arrival at the press so that substandard grapes can be discarded.

As the custodian of the house's high standards, the Beaumont des Crayères' cellar master lavishes utmost care and attention on wine making and blending of his Champagnes. Must from each grape variety, individual batches and the various single-vineyard selections are fermented separately. This technique gives him an extensive array of wines to marry during blending.

 

Fermenting the wines separately also means that wine making can be tailored to suit each cuvee. To ensure the highest level of proficiency, racking and the various types of fermentation are conducted in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. For the prestige cuvees, some of the wines are aged in oak, imparting greater aromatic intensity, substance on the palate and length.

 

A few weeks after the harvest, the blending season begins with a series of blind tastings involving all the wines from the current harvest and reserve wines. For the house's team of wine makers, this is another stage of selection designed to identify the wines that will, or will not, be used in blends of Beaumont des Crayères Champagne. Over the course of several months, the tastings for blending occur: this long, painstaking process is designed to define the exact proportions of each wine in each of the cuvees.

 

Blending is a key stage in the making of a great Champagne. For Beaumont des Crayères, blending is imbued with a sense of magic such are the astounding results of this fusion of cuvees in terms of smell and taste profiles.

1. Start by Signing up and creating your profile

- Add a profile picture and more information about yourselves


2. Next, Create your personal Wine World

- Click iFollow (Discover) from the top menu

- Tastingbook has added automatically into your wine world 5-10 of the most active professionals or Pro's as we call them.

- Search for more pros or other users by typing their name in the search field. Then click into my world to those who you want to include in your wine world. This way, you may be notified when they taste wines or comment on them.

- You can also add wines and wine producers into your wine world. This allows you to access the most up-to-date information about them.


3. Invite your friends to join the tastingbook

- Click your username on the top menu and choose invite

- Type your friends email addresses and click send invites

- You can follow the status of your invitation on the same page


4. Create a tasting and do tasting notes

4.1. Click the New tasting button from the top menu.

- Name the tasting as you wish.

- Set the place and time (You can also add your past tasting notes by just changing the date)

- Click the add new wine button on the right to add new wines to the tasting.

- Now go to the box that says 'Click to add the wine'.

- Start by typing the wine or producer name and select the wine from the list that appears.

- After you have selected the wine, the vintage selection will be opened automatically

- Select the correct vintage by clicking on it.


4.2. Next, click My tasting note box and the worlds most advanced tasting

- From the bottom left of the tasting tool you can select in which language you want to use and view tasting notes.

- just do your wine note by clicking the correct adjectives. The adjectives can be activated by clicking once, or de-activated by clicking again.

- Tastingbook Pros will teach you while you taste wines.

At the bottom of the page in the section Show notes of, you may view notes of the professionals by clicking Pro's. If any of the tastingbook pros have tasted the wine before their opinion will show in the gold colored frames around the adjectives on the tasting view.


4.3. After you have completed your wine note, it's time to give Tb points.

Click the box on the bottom right Give points.
In case you want to add any comment or personal thoughts related to this wine, you may tick the note box next to the scores. In this field you may add copy-pasted texts for instance your old notes, etc.


4.4. After you've completed your notes for all the wines, click Close tasting.

You may now share some general thoughts about the tasting or tasted wines and choose with whom you want share your tasting. Set the Tasting privacy to limit the audience who are able to view your tastings information. We suggest you use Everyone as most of the wine experiences are meant to be shared.

Note:

If a wine that you are tasting is not found in our database, please be kind enough to send us an email to: addwine@thetastingbook.com, please include at least the wine name and producer. We will add the wine in tastingbook within 24 hours.


5. Tastingbook is full of information and stories - how to find them.

Tastingbook is full of information about wines, vintages, and wineries and also has over 30.000 pictures of wines. To best way to find what you are looking for is to browse the site from the Browse field in the top right corner.

You may search for wine, vintage, producer, pros or other community members by typing the name in the browse field. You may then choose from the drop down menu.
