Veritas has now been making truly great Barossa wines for two generations. Such is the calibre of the winemaking team and the wines from Veritas, Rolf makes the reds so highly praised, and Christa, his sister, makes the whites and has become known as the authority on Semillon in the Barossa, as shown by her winning 'Best Wine Small Producer' and 'Best White Wine Premium' Classes in 2002 Barossa Wine Show.
The hard work really started in the old shed in the Barossa town of Tanunda. Very rudimentary wine making facilities were available, never the less, Rolf Senior went on to make great traditional style wines from premium Barossa fruit. Laying the foundations for the next generation.
The children, daughter Christa and son Rolf grew up with wine all around them and not surprisingly decided to carry on in the family business and became the second generation of winemakers in the Binder family. Both attended the world-renowned Roseworthy College to complete their degrees in winemaking. Christa further learnt her craft at Wolf Blass wines and overseas where she specialised in white wine production. Rolf after several years winemaking in Europe came home to help his father at Veritas.
He began taking more and more of the responsibility from his father both in the business and winemaking, all the time growing the reputation of Veritas Wines. Now Rolf has achieved great heights with his wines, receiving accolades from some of the world’s best known wine critics. Still the reputation of Veritas wine continues to grow and grow but will never lose site of its origins and the focus of making truly great Barossa wines.
