Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

A deep ruby red hue, signaling both richness and depth from first glance. The nose is intensely aromatic, bursting with jammy black fruit, layered beneath toasty oak, a subtle spirity lift, and a distinct medicinal nuance that evokes aged complexity and finesse. On the palate, it delivers a full-bodied structure, with concentrated jammy fruit, luxurious density, and polished, smooth tannins that reflect exceptional viticultural care and precise winemaking. It's an opulent, expansive wine, commanding attention with its powerful presence, yet remaining refined and harmonious from start to finish. Drinks well already, but will benefit still from 2-5 years of ageing. If served now, decant for 3 hours and serve at 17-18C from Riedel Winewings Cabernet glass. Great match with braised lamb shank with rosemary and garlic.

The 2013 vintage at Levy & McClellan is widely celebrated as one of Napa Valley’s most powerful and age-worthy expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2013 was an early, even, and excellent vintage – a true dream vintage for reds. Warm and dry spring, leading to early bud break and ideal flowering. Followed by consistently warm summer with only one brief heat spike in late June. Long hang time allowed for full phenolic maturity and flavor development. The yield was in general above average, with small berries and thick skins—perfect for tannin and concentration.
