History

Bodega Iniesta, Its construction
Bodega Iniesta was created in the 1990’s when José Antonio Iniesta started this project with a plantation of 10 hectares of vineyards. After several years and given the results obtained, he continued his work in viticulture by planting different varieties and increasing the vine-growing area to the current 200 hectares. Bodega Iniesta is in charge of the whole process from the vineyards to the commercialisation of the wines. At the beginning of the 2000’s, an idea began to take shape to build his own wine cellar in order to produce his own wines from his own vineyards. This dream became a reality in 2010, when the construction of the wine cellar was complete. That same year, the first wines were produced.

The project, The beginnings
Located in the heart of La Manchuela, between the basins of the Rivers Cabriel and Júcar, lies Bodega Iniesta, in Fuentealbilla, province of Albacete. A new wine cellar built to achieve the dream of the Iniesta Lujan Family, in their viticulture experience since the 1970’s.
Bodega Iniesta is a family-run wine cellar in which this family controls the whole vineyard and the production and commercialisation of its wines from its own vineyards in Fuentealbilla.

The recently built Wine Cellar has fulfilled the Iniesta Luján Family’s dream in their vine-growing experience which was always to produce their own wines from their property “Finca El Carril”.

The wine cellar and the vineyards are located in Fuentealbilla, in the heart of La Manchuela, between the Plateau of Castile and the Mediterranean, which gives the area an ideal microclimate for vine growing and helps to enjoy its best characteristics. The wine cellar is equipped and designed to give maximum respect to the qualities and characteristics of the grape and the land where they are located. The philosophy is the less we intervene in what nature gives us, the more respectful we are, the better the quality and personality of our products.
The Estate and the Wine Cellar are run by an excellent team of agronomists and oenologists of recognised prestige under the protection, enthusiasm and efforts of the Iniesta Family. The objective is none other than to convey the best of our land to the national and international market, satisfying and winning over the palates of wine consumers and wine lovers worldwide.

Winemaking

Our wine production philosophy at Bodega Iniesta is based on the following parameters and internal standards:
Respect for tradition, but making use of the most innovative technology in our processes and facilities. Own vineyards.
Maximum quality of the grape achieved with intense and professional work in the vineyards.
Use of autochthonous yeasts in the fermentations.
Demanding quality control of the grape we use for our wines, via controls in the field and at the start of harvesting.
Minimum time between the harvest and the barreling of the wine. The time spent from when the grapes are cut to when they reach the tanks is not more than 30 min. The grape arrives with its full freshness and own characteristics.
Total control of the must temperature. We have a boreal, which is an advanced system that allows us to lower the temperature of the grapes that enter the wine cellar to prevent any kind of oxidation and pre-fermentation and to preserve all the aromatic characteristics of each variety.
Use of the best woods and barrel-making for our barrels, suited to each variety, length of ageing and to the pursuit of our own style in our wines.
Bottled according to market demand to ensure the product reaches the consumer as fresh as possible.
