History
Enclosed on a peninsula north of Bordeaux, the Médoc vineyard occupies a special place. Along the Gironde for more than 80 kilometers, the region offers very varied horizons, thus a great diversity of soils. These different terroirs make up the richness of the Medocs where each property offers its own characteristics, thus leaving the connoisseur of great wines with an infinite range of pleasures, both visual, olfactory, gustatory and even tactile.
Château Carcanieux covers an area of 40 hectares, most of which is devoted to vines (37 hectares). Placed on a rump in the commune of Queyrac called “Terres Hautes de Carcanieux”, its soil is particularly gravelly.
Pebbles are omnipresent around the castle, which explains the name engraved on its pediment: “Carcanieux Les Graves”.
