History

Domaine Gayda was built in 1749 as a Staging Post for travellers where horses were refreshed and changed. The farm buildings have since been converted into luxury accommodation.

Owners Tim Ford and Anthony Record joined forces with winemaker Vincent Chansault in 2004, creating the modern face of wine from the region.

On the site of the famous “l’arbre de Moscou”, we built the winery, restaurant and Boutique.  This iconique tree got its name from the land registry title of the vineyards surrounding the Domaine.  The tree was a navigation beacon used by the ‘Aeropostale’ pioneers of the air postal service made famous by pilots such as Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

Domaine Gayda has a passion for the traditional ‘cépages’ grown across the many diverse soils and climates situated throughout the Languedoc. Also, varietals such as Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc have been planted at the home farm where the climatic influences of the Atlantic allows these imported varieties to flourish  While the vineyards are firmly rooted in  tradition and “terroirs”, the winery itself is all about the innovation, with investments in all the latest equipment and technology ensuring vinification and maturation is carried out in optimum conditions.

In the largest wine region of the world, Domaine Gayda strives to create wine with provenance and a sense of “being” that is a true reflection of the quality and diversity of the Languedoc Roussillon.
