History
Larry Cherubino is one of Australia’s most acclaimed winemakers, with extensive experience in large and small wineries in Australia and major overseas wine regions. He is renowned for his passionate commitment to maximising wine quality in both vineyard and winery, his state of the art technical knowledge and for having a highly developed understanding of modern wine styles. A graduate of Roseworthy College, Larry had a distinguished career with BRL Hardy at Tintara in South Australia and then at Houghton in Western Australia, where his wines won hundreds of awards in the highly competitive Australian and International wine show system.
In 2005 Lary and his partner Edwina launched Larry Cherubino Wines with the release of a single vineyard Shiraz from Frankland River, Western Australia. Ad Hoc is our range of regional wines. Western Australia is my winemaking heartland and over the years I reckon I’ve got a pretty good handle on what works where. Everything I do reflects my strong belief that when you get the right varieties in the right sites you’re well on your way to making good wine. Having got the framework right, we’ve been able to have a bit of fun with the Ad Hoc range, both in the winery and on the branding side too. I’ve tried a few things with these wines to give them unique personalities rather than just make carbon copies of some of the well established examples.
We’ve gone against every bit of conventional branding wisdom with the labeling as well. Each wine has several unique labels and we’re going to change between them whenever the mood strikes. The Yard is a range of single vineyard wines – the result of a deliberate plan to source all fruit from family vineyards in Western Australia’s premier wine growing regions.
