History

In a country that is so very much associated with art und culture like Austria, joie de vivre and wine culture are also high on the people´s list of priorities. Favoured by the local climate, Austria´s wines are always characterised by a lovable freshness and an intensive fruit. These attributes are highly appreciated far beyond the borders of Austria, not least due to the contribution of the Lenz Moser winery, which has been dedicated to the preservation of Austrian wine culture for Generations.

 

The name of Lenz Moser is inextricably linked with wine-growing in Austria. The current Lenz Moser estate winery in Rohrendorf near Krems, first mentioned in an official document as early as 1040, is considered the Point of departure for significant Impulses aimed at preserving Austrian wine culture. For example, the "Lenz Moser high Training System" was invented here, which revolutionised viticulture in the 50´s. It was Spirit of pioneership that turned the Lenz Moser winery into what it is today: the market leader for Austrian Quality wines in the domestic market. Moreover, being the most important exporter of Austrian quality wine in bottles, Lenz Moser contributes to disseminating Austria´s wine culture into many countries of Europe, the USA, Canada and the Far East.

Vineyards

Featuring the full assortment of Austrian varieties, the Lenz Moser winery has become the country’s most important winemaker and can be considered the best known producer of Austrian wine world-wide - particularly in connection with a name rich in tradition. The product range features the traditional varieties of Grüner Veltliner, Weißburgunder, Blauer Zweigelt, and Blaufränkisch. Lenz Moser also produces Welschriesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Blauburgunder, Blauer Portugieser and St. Laurent.

Winemaking

Lenz Moser combines century-long wine culture with state-of-the-art Technology and comprehensive know-how. The ecological approach in the vineyard is also applied in the winery and the bottling facilities. Our red wines mature in traditional large wooden barrels or barriques in one of Central Europe´s most modern wineries. In contrast, the White wines reach their Maximum freshness and fruit when stored in cool steel barrels.

 

State-of-the-art winery technology and plenty of know-how can help steer all processes in a manner that allows us to get the most out of that treasure hidden in every grape and seal it into the bottle. In order of constantly remain up to date on the state of the art, Lenz Moser invests a lot of time and money in research, development, and technical equipment. We focus on gentle, efficient processing methods, always having one objective in mind: The production of high-value wines at reasonable prices. A long list of distinctions and awards won by Lenz Moser at national and international competitions and wine-tasting events proves just how well we have managed to reach that objective.
