Salton’s history started in Italy in 1878 when Antonio Domenico Salton left the town of Cison di Valmarino in the Veneto region looking for better opportunities in Brazil. He settled in the Italian Dona Isabel colony, in Rio Grande do Sul, today called Bento Gonçalves.

Grape production

Grapevines are planted in either a single vertical shoot position system or a lyre system, which allows good sun exposure, generating high-quality grapes. A cordon spur-training system is used for pruning aiming to produce smaller quantities with higher quality. Some of the management operations used include green pruning and thinning out bunches, which enable to grow healthier grapes and more even ripening.
