Growing Season: In 2014, the 2nd year of a significant drought, budbreak was slightly early, and moderate temperatures helped preserve moisture. July was cooler than normal, which slowed sugar accumulation, enabling us to harvest at moderate physical ripeness (Brix), yet at what we determined to be ideal phenolic maturity. We picked a week earlier than normal, but several days later than in 2013.
