The Story

This relatively high proportion of Merlot is accounted for by the fact that the Margaux appellation is located within a part of the Médoc peninsular where soils have more clay and less deep gravel, and are better suited to the balance of this varietal. Written Notes

Dark purple colour with violet hue and almost black core. Opulent nose with rich aroma reminiscent of dark chocolate, cocoa, hints of coffee and gingerbread spices, complemtened by juicy fruit reminiscent of sweet plums, ripe blackcurrants with hints of blackberries and floral hints in the background. On the palate rich yet elegant, well structured, ripe tannins with good grip, refined acidity adding freshness and taming the opulence of the taste. Ripe fruit and mild spices make a great Margaux with excellent length.

Tasted in May 2021. 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. It was an elegant wine with finesse, a bit light on the palate, silky and tasty fruit, smooth tannin, and a subtle finish. Pretty wine. Rated 91-92p.
