The 2019 Bricco Manzoni is a poised and classically proportioned Barolo, expressing the elegance and aromatic finesse for which La Morra is renowned. The nose is refined and layered, opening with red cherry, wild strawberry and rose petal, followed by notes of orange zest, anise and dried herbs. Subtle hints of tar, forest floor and sweet spice emerge with air, underscoring the wine’s complexity and site expression.
On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, taut and finely structured. Bright red fruit is framed by firm, finely etched Nebbiolo tannins, which are youthful yet well-balanced, lending grip without aggression. Fresh, vibrant acidity gives the wine precision and length, while savoury undertones of liquorice, tea leaf and earthy minerality add depth through the mid-palate.
The finish is long, focused and mineral-driven, with lingering notes of red fruit, florals and gently bitter spice, promising considerable evolution in bottle.
This is a traditional, terroir-focused Barolo, emphasizing transparency and structure rather than power. While approachable with decanting, it will reward patience and careful cellaring over the next 15–25 years.
