Wine Description
The Story
The first vintage, produced in 1986, established this wine as an instant Napa Valley classic. Select Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc and aged in no greater than 60% new French oak. For close to three decades, this standard-bearer has consistently shown impressive structure and velvety berry flavors.
Wine Information
2007 Vintage
After a mild winter with below normal rainfall coupled with a dry spring, the 2007 winegrowing season began with an early bud break. A cool, moderate growing season heated up the latter part of August, and then the weather turned cool the second week in September allowing the harvest a less hectic pace. Berries were small, creating a greater skin to juice ratio, conditions for enhancing the color and quality of the resulting wines. 2007 was a classic vintage in Napa Valley, arguably the best in recent memory. With virtually no measurable rain after February, a warm spring, and nearly ideal conditions for the entire season, the Dalla Valle vineyard delivered fruit with near-perfect ripeness.
2007 Dalla Valle Cabernet Sauvignon
The Cabernet Sauvignon offering is deep and concentrated, with intense fruit aromas that build with time in the glass. The wine shows pure varietal character, mixed with notes of mineral and spice. The texture is broad and mouth filling, with excellent structure, a silky quality, and impressive length. This wine is very compelling, and continues to open with time. This wine should continue to develop for ten or more years.
