The Story
The first vintage, produced in 1986, established this wine as an instant Napa Valley classic. Select Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc and aged in no greater than 60% new French oak. For close to three decades, this standard-bearer has consistently shown impressive structure and velvety berry flavors.
Wine Information
The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Dalla Valle estate is all about power, density, and verve. The growing season was both mild and intense, with ample sunshine, cool temperatures, and several intense heat events. The vineyards at Dalla Valle soaked it all in, delivering fruit with amazing depth and purity. The wine is almost impossibly dark, opaque, and packed with aromatic excitement. Cassis, cacao beans, burning sage, and baking spices explode from the glass. There is impressive weight and thickness, and, despite its tannic structure and strength, the wine is very enjoyable as it saturates the palate, even at this early stage in its life. This is a wine that will bring pleasure right now, and will age for many years, probably decades, to come.
