Wine Information

Disgorged in 2014 and 2015

Total acidity 5,2 g/l H2SO4
Dosage 5 g/l.
Dosage liquor matured in oak casks (over 15 years).

GRAPE VARIETIES BLEND:

Pinot noir 90 %
Chardonnay 7%
Pinot Meunier 3 %

VINIFICATION:

The juice comes exclusively from the first press. The base rape has flowed naturally thanks to gravity, with no pumping. We specially value this technique for the elaboration of our Champagnes. It allows to use very low quantities of sulfites (three times under standard vinification). This very «natural» vinification and the rare quality oak casks we use for part of the wines gives to our pinots a very beautiful copper-coloured aspect, close to last century's tradition.

TASTING:

By Gérard Basset, MS.MW, Best Sommelier in the World 2010

Medium deep gold with greenish tinges, abundance of tiny bubbles rising up in the glass.
Rich pastry nose with notes of orange marmalade but also some hints of Tart Tatin.
Round on the palate with a ripe texture and a wonderful concentration of mouth aromas with a beautiful sweet spices aftertaste lasting a long time. This is a magnificent Champagne drinking very well now, a true classic.

Vintage 1998

This year's harvest is the largest the region has ever seen. Every corner of the appellation has managed to achieve the maximum authorized harvest yield of 10,400 kilos of grapes per hectare. Producers were also allowed to harvest an additional 2,600 kg which was allocated to the Champagne reserve, called blocking. This led to 330 million bottles of champagne being made in total. The lock-in system (which allows more production than necessary to meet demand) was the main tool for maintaining a stable price level in the 1990s.

Written Notes
