Written Notes

A Jeroboam in perfect condition. The colour is garnet red. The nose is rich and multi-layered but makes feel the "hot" conditions of the vintage. Wonderful aroma reminiscent of dried fruits, prunes, roasted chestnuts, hints of gingerbread spices, cedar wood and fine tobacco. Dark chocolate and a hint of balmy spices in the background. On the palate velvety mouthfeel, rich but elegant character, still displaying freshness, excellent length and hints of sweetness in the aftertaste. 94

This was an enchanting, quasi-Burgundian wine, with lyrical grace. Cherries, smoke, sea salt, blackberries, violets are all abundant in the bouquet. There is ripe fruit, some of that ’82 richness, but still the Beychevelle breeding and grace are evident throughout. The tannins are robust but understated; there are layers of evolving complexity evident at the mid palate, and a silky, nicely delineated finish of admirable length and marvelous grip. This is a wine I believe that will actually come even more fully into its own in the coming 5-7 years and continue to blossom for quite some time thereafter. 95 Points+
