Wine Description
The Story
The 2013 is an inaugural release of Heitz Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Linda Falls — the first time we have introduced a vineyard-designated cabernet since 1989.
This is our Howell Mountain gem – Linda Falls Vineyard, named for the neighboring waterfall which tumbles towards the valley below. Since planting in 2002 we have nurtured this tiny vineyard, letting it reveal its distinctive character in its own time. It is now ready to step out onto center stage and become a single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon – the 4th in our history.
We set out to produce a cabernet that represents the concentration of Howell Mountain fruit with its inherent intensity of blueberries, augmented with the elegance of violets that typifies the balance and ageability of the Heitz style. The inky opacity of this wine sets it apart from our other cabernets and hints at its mountainous origins.

Tasting Notes: The first thing you notice about this wine is its color – an inky opacity that sets it apart from our other Cabernets and hints at its mountainous origins. Alluring notes of blueberries and freshly-baked blackberry cobbler give the wine a spicy warmth. Full-bodied, with rich and lingering tannins, the wine evolves as it flows across the tongue, and finishes with a wonderful waft of violets, giving it a fresh lift. Truly a distinctive wine combining the concentration of Howell Mountain with the style and finesse you would expect from Heitz Wine Cellars.
