Paxton is a fully biodynamic winery. This is a ripe and dense. There are notes of spice, leather, mocha, warm earth. A little oak as well. Lots of chocolate. A lovely soft, cuddly palate. Lots of velvety tannins. Impressive persistence. Nicely balanced. This is fresh, though slightly burly. Has a good future and is certainly a good wine.
Others saw some bay-leaf and oyster-shell characters, though I must saw that they eluded me.
It is from a single vineyard but one with diverse soil.
18 months in oak, 45% new and a mix of 1/3rd American and 2/3rds French.
