Bordeaux 2014 Vintage

San Leonardo is not only celebrating its 300 jubilee as a wine estate but was also awarded the “Winery of the Year” award of Gamber Rosso, the famous Italian wine guide. A tasting of the actual vintages was hold in Essen with some excellent wines.

The VDP has again presented the new vintage of the GG wines in Wiesbaden. This time, I have focussed on Silvaner from Franconia, Riesling from the northern areas, Mosel, Saar and Ruwer, Middle-Rhine and Nahe. I tasted some very appealing Pinot varieties too. The vintage 2023 was rather challenging for the producers however they showed some very convincing wines.

Four wines have been tasted today, just released for the market. Two Riesling from Markus Molitor and two very special Sekt cuvées from Schloss Vaux. 

There are sometimes pleasant surprises when you organise a Sunday lunch “bottle pary” with friends. This was the way how an excellent bottle found its way in our glasses. It was clear that the wine had great maturity, however it still displayed freshness and was very elegant. When the comments were made and the wine revealed it turned out to be a very special bottle. 

Again Bordeaux will be the place where a huger number of excellent wines coming from beyond the Bordelais’ border will be introduced to the market. Some promising and excellent wines have been tasted. 

4 G continues its strive for excellence, presenting two very convincing wines from the Echo-series as well as the new 2017 vintage. 

A tasting of excellent Champagnes of small houses and vintners as well as high quality Crémants from all over France was a thrilling experience with some great surprises and discoveries.  

A series of sparkling wines from Italy was presenting some excellent surprises.

Three wines of excellent estates have been tasted over the last days.

Today's tasting features wines from the coastal region of Liguria and from the mountains of the Alto Adige. A "surf and turf" of two different terroirs yet two great wine experiences. 

This 1918 vintage "Vinho Licoroso Portugès" is a fortified sweet wine in the Estremadura style, bottled on February 1st, 1997 and distributed by Caves Vidigal under the name of Quinta do Cónego. The true origin of this wine is unknown, a real discovery. 

Two estates are presenting the new vintage to the market. The Rothschild family with its Domaine de Baronarques and the Mazzei family with a selection of Chianti Riserva and Gran Selezione. Exciting wines with great class.
