The Story
This wine is pale gold in colour. Its effervescence is measured and builds to a fine mousse. At first, the nose is led by toasted almonds and russet apples. The wine then evolves aromatically to offer floral notes and hints of ‘food’. Iris, orange blossom and ladyfinger biscuits assert themselves. A cold winter and springtime frosts laid the foundations for this vintage of abundant yields (12,997 kg/ha). Uneventful flowering was followed by exceptionally hot and sunny weather, which lasted until August. A dank August left producers fearful but fortunately warm, bright conditions in September redressed the balance.
