Written Notes

Château Langoa Barton 2020 – 53.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot and 8.5% Cabernet Franc. 13.5% alcohol. Sister property to Leoville Barton and similar to her big "sister" in terms of the quality. Big scaled on the nose and palate with creamy blackcurrants, graphite, fat tannin, strong backbone, and striking complexity. Classy stuff. 94+p.

Ruby. Cassis, blueberries, exotic spices, a richer and deeper nose for Langoa, layered, cinnamon and star anise. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, dense, dark fruits, layered and deep, rich yet freshness, ling finish. 93-95

Full bottle 1,345 g. Cask sample taken 6 April. 53.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 8.5% Cabernet Franc.
Healthy deep purplish crimson. High-toned, fully ripe nose that is rather seductive before a glossy, polished-tannin dry finish. Promises well for the future while being relatively charming even now. Not the most concentrated 2020 but everything is in balance. Well done. Sappy, dry finish. Very St-Julien. Some restraint despite the initial seduction.

  • 90p

Intense purple colour with violet hue and black core. Rich nose with fragrant fruit, ripe berries and juicy plums, hints of candied Morello cherries in the background. Discreet spiciness in the background. On the palate well balanced and structured with freshness and fine aromatic depth, very convincing length.
