64% Semillon and 36% Sauvignon Blanc. It’s got a fascinating rap sheet: The orange or amber colour comes in part from the extended contact with skins - ranging from 2 days to one month depending on the individual parcels. 75%+ of the wine spent 4 months in oak. The fruit is from the family owned biodynamic vineyards. It is a whopping 15% ABV (high for Margaret River). It has been fermented in a combination of open and closed top fermenters and amphoras. It is textural, structured and it has tannins (!)… a wine that takes you out of yourself and asks you to reconsider your boundaries. It’s a complex wine to describe flavour wise, as I had to switch off my expectations and just allow it to present itself. It has red apple, red berry, baked bread, spice and citrus. It’s an amalgam of flavours and it’s rich - there’s a lot going on. Try pairing it with a tapas style meal - you might learn something. 94 pts.
