The Story

Trailside Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

In the early 1980s, the Heitz Family acquired a marvelous Rutherford vineyard bordered on one side by the Silverado Trail and nudged on the other by the Conn Creek.

In 1989, we introduced our Trailside Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon --- an opulent wine that consistently expresses its lineage in bold, luscious statements.

Written Notes

A rich, dark wine, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Trailside Vineyard possesses superb depth and texture while maintaining a classic sense of structure. Sweet dark cherry, plum, cedar, tobacco, licorice and mint all take shape as this succulent, resonant wine shows off its expressive personality. Drink this deep, pliant Cabernet Sauvignon over the next two decades. The combination of ripeness from the late season hear and structure is hugely appealing.

A single glance at the deep garnet hue of this Cabernet heralds the lushness of the wine. With youthful exuberance, the wine leaps from the glass with aromas of fresh-picked blackberry, and a touch of rich cocoa. The aromatics continue onto the palate with a delightful, lingering finish and an alluring sweetness. True to the cool 2010 vintage, this wine is dense and powerful.

We predict great things for this Cabernet – it has all the components of a very age-worthy wine.

Good looking normal size bottle. Colour is ruby red, and looking bright, dark and deep. On the nose it is intense, youthful, ripe and rich. The taste is full, rich, firm, powerful, toasty, fruity, vivid, with high tannin ., with drying tannins, and average in acidity, full-bodied, with complex, concentrated, well-structured structure and youthful. On the palate it is layered and has blackberry, blackcurrant, spice, smoky, mineral, earthy and toasty flavours. The finish is long, vibrant, spicy and flavorful. This wine is beauty and too oxidised for unbiased valuation. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 10-15 years and decant at least 2t before tasting.
