Corton has enjoyed great fame in Burgundy ever since the Emperor Otho gave it his name in the 8th Century. The word "Corton" comes from curtis (the estate) and Othon (the Emperor).

Ideal growing season, with warm spring weather without major problems, followed by a long hot summer with some rainy periods at the right times.A very good quality abundant harvest which, if it had been done with our current knowledge of thinning and temperature controlled fermentation, would have been excellent.
