Wine Information

Corton has enjoyed great fame in Burgundy ever since the Emperor Otho gave it his name in the 8th Century. The word "Corton" comes from curtis (the estate) and Othon (the Emperor).

Written Notes

1915 Corton Hospice du Beane. What is this magical drink? I have never smelled anything like this, yet it's fragile aroma gives me the same sensation as a dried rose, like the kind your girlfriend would keep by here bedside. Clearly this wine is old because the color here in the light through the glass looks like a rose-petal brick dust water. It is so counterintuitive that a wine that looks this old can give such a vibrant, lively song. Wow! On the palate it is a love chant to my mind! This can only be burgundy from long, long ago. If it is Burgundy, then I would bet it is the oldest I have ever gotten to taste. Tasted May 2012
