The Story
Located in the Côte des Blancs region of the Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet is the largest of the five Grands Crus of the Côte des Blancs, with eastern sun exposure and chalky soil. This Chardonnay wine is fermented and aged for an average of 18 months in oak barrels.

Bâtard Montrachet is located at the point where villages of Puligny Montrachet and Chassagne Montrachet converge. It borders the Bienvenues Bâtard Montrachet vineyard and is right below the Montrachet's one.

The bad news is Chablis. In the early hours of Tuesday 1st September a severe storm hit the Chablis area. From Irancy up to the grands crus of Blanchots and Les Clos a swathe of hail – some hailstones as large as golf balls – has affected some 100 hectares of the vineyard.
