The Story

Our Montevero is our flagship wine, a Cuvée blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. It is our version of a Premier Grand Cru of Tuscany, and stands for absolute top quality and unique character. We can guarantee this by taking the utmost care and being scrupulously selective when harvesting by hand. We produce Monteverro in minimal amounts from grapes from the best plots of the steep hillside slopes that run right...

Wine Information

2009 Vintage/ The very rainy winter gave the coming season the crucial water to fill the hydric stock of the soil. The budding was quite early (March 29th for Merlot, April 4th for Cabernet Franc and April 10th for Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot) and the moderate weather continued until the end of May, which resulted in perfect flowering. In June, we had two violent storms, but we were fortunate enough to have no damage in the vineyards. ...

Written Notes

Monteverro is the winery’s flagship wine — its version of Tuscany’s “Premier Grand Cru.” The 2009 vintage has very intense, deep, purple colour. Rich complex nose holds a developed bouquet of truffles and cedar aromas, spices and mushrooms with intense ripe dark fruit aromas. The wine is full-bodied on the palate with gentle tannins, ripe intense dark fruitiness and balancing moderate acidity with well integrated alcohol adding richness to the long finish. Cedary and spicy oak aromas add complexity to the palate. A very fine, concentrated wine which has many years ahead of it.

Intense garnet red colour. Very rich nose with a slightly more evolved character, prunes and dried figs, elderberry jam, gingerbread and hints of Garam Masala. On the palate well structured with mature character and good length. Quite ripe style.

Deep dark with bright red and purple on the rim, the wine reveals on the nose concentrated aromas with spices like white pepper, sap, chocolate and cedar wood with hints of cherry, jasmine, tea leaves, black currant and cigar box. On the palate, the wine shows a powerful, yet subtle entrance on a layered structure with a great backbone of acidity, lingering on cherry, cassis and dark chocolate with dense but ripe tannins, coated with blackberry jam. This wines will probably show its best after 5 to 10 years but can still be aged longer.

Good looking normal size bottle. Colour is ruby red, and looking dark, bright and medium. On the nose it is intense, ripe and generous. The taste is harmonious, elegant, perfumed, vivid, refined, full, warming, with medium tannin ., with silky tannins, sweet tannins, and average in acidity, full-bodied, with perfectly balanced structure and youthful. On the palate it is layered and has blackcurrant, violet, chocolate and toasty flavours. The finish is long and round. This wine is wonderful, beauty and fine. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 10-15 years and decant at least 2h before tasting.
