Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque 2008 is the perfect cuvée to mark any moment of celebration. Each sip captivates with alluring floral finesse. To enjoy whilst dining, its vibrancy will pair delicately with the saltiness of langoustines, or compliment the most delicate of white meats with its bloom of white flowers.

The Story

Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque is the original Belle Epoque vintage cuvée, first appearing in 1964. Instantly recognisable throughout the world, its bottle is adorned with the graceful spray of Japanese white anemones created for Maison Perrier-Jouët by Art Nouveau master Emile Gallé in 1902.

Working at the vat, plot by plot, the Cellar Master tastes and tests time and again, finally isolating the wines, turning each cuvée into a unique wine th...

Wine Information

The Cuvée Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 2008 comes from a grape harvest marked by a difficult early spring, with cool temperatures and little sunshine. This continued into the summer, accompanied by abundant rainfall. Only the return of warmer weather at the start of September endowed the 2008 vintage with a note of freshness and a nicely rounded mouthfeel, enabling it to display a subtle balance of delicacy and structure.

Vintage 2008

2008 -The Champagne vintage set to make history!

A first taste of leading winemakers’ 2008 champagnes reveals a miraculous vintage, bubbling with potential, which – whisper it – might just prove the greatest in living memory.

2008 was not, by any standards, a vintage year for the financial world. And for the greater part of it, 2008 was a pretty poor year for Champagne too: spring was freezing, summer gloomy and overcast. But then, aroun...

Written Notes

The best champagne from this fabulous vintage released so far. A Classic Belle Epoque but at the same time even more elegant than usual with a lovely serious flowery bouquet of orange blossom, magnolia and lilies of the valley as key notes in the most perfect of perfumes. The taste is somewhat more acidic than usual where Chardonnay from Avize and Cramant shines bright and clear for the moment with a discreet creamy and yet chalky and powdery emotion that embraces the crispy freshness. Together with the legends of 1964, 1985 and perhaps 1996 the best Belle Epoque ever created. Buy every bottle you can get!

Inside Information

While preserving the House style, Hervé Deschamps blended this cuvée to emphasise the unique character of the 2008 vintage. His blend brings out the freshness and elegance of the Chardonnay (50%) from the grands crus of Cramant and Avize. From the Montagne de Reims, the Pinot Noir (45%) display a generosity and delicate complexity that prolong the Chardonnay’s finesse. Finally, the rounded charm of the Pinot Meunier (5%) from Dizy provides the finishing touch to this beautifully balanced cuvée.
