Great bottle variation, but always wonderfully creamy, soft, and peach-flavored, despite the dark, aged color. Much more charming than many tough '61s. Old Champagne, when it succeeds in combining the tones of old wood with apricot and peach aromas, is one of the most enjoyable things in the world. Certain bottles of Pol Roger '61 have reached even higher on the points scale.

The ’61 was rich, fleshy and round with caramel and honey flavors to match its aromas. There was more integration here than any of the Doms; the extra ten years had done the Pol Roger well. Its acidity was still special, and lots of vitamin flavors lingered on its finish
