The Story

Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Rosé Millésimé is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir (100% “Grands Crus”), part of which (12%) is red wine from the vineyards of Bouzy, and 30% Chardonnay grapes.

The Chardonnay grapes, from the vineyards of the Côte des Blancs (100% “Grands Crus”), bring refinement and freshness to the composition. Only juices from the first pressing are used to ensure the structure and the long ageing potential so essential to this ...

Wine Information

2012 is the new release of the Comtes Rose, and it's a stunning vintage for this Tete de Cuvee Rose. As we mentioned in our last offer, Taittinger is a Champagne that we have enjoyed countless times and a House that we have tasted more than anywhere else. While the regular Comtes can be underrated, this is even more true for the Rose, and we have experienced this cuvee compete with some of the Best Roses like Cristal and Dom Perignon at a much...

Vintage 2012

The next most exceptional vintage since 2008. A truly difficult growing season saw severe frosts in the winter. March brought warmth but early budbreak made the vines vulnerable to spring frosts. Overall, the early growing season was wet, and mildew became a serious issue. However, conditions improved dramatically in the later summer months. An August heatwave resulted in a rapid accumulation of sugar, but fortunately the nights remained cool,...

Written Notes

A radiant, deep salmon-pink hue with a luminous brilliance, edged by delicate copper highlights. The effervescence is fine and persistent, forming an elegant mousse that glides gracefully to the surface.

The aromatic profile is a masterpiece of complexity and refinement. Initial notes of wild strawberries, red currants, and raspberries burst forth, followed by layers of blood orange zest and pomegranate. As the wine opens, deeper tones of rose petals, hibiscus, and toasted brioche emerge, intertwined with subtle hints of almond cream and a whisper of spice—cinnamon and pink peppercorn.

On the palate, this champagne is a seamless blend of power and finesse. The attack is bright and vibrant, showcasing a core of ripe red berries and candied citrus fruits. The mid-palate unfolds with creamy textures balanced by a lively acidity that brings precision and freshness. Flavors of dried apricots, marzipan, and chalky minerality add depth and dimension, leading to a long, luxurious finish. Delicate notes of saffron, crushed strawberries, and a touch of salinity linger elegantly.

The wine exhibits a perfect harmony of richness and tension. Aged for nearly a decade, it delivers a remarkable balance between its generous fruit profile and its taut, mineral backbone. The silky mousse and well-integrated dosage enhance the overall sophistication, while the vibrant acidity promises excellent ageing potential.

This champagne is an exquisite pairing with gastronomic delights such as roasted duck breast with cherry glaze, seared scallops, or creamy goat cheese with red fruit compote. For dessert, a raspberry tart or a simple dark chocolate truffle would beautifully complement its character.

The Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Rosé 2012 is a stunning example of vintage rosé champagne at its pinnacle. With its complexity, elegance, and depth, it is both a celebration of the 2012 vintage. While it is already extraordinary now, it holds immense potential for further development, promising even greater rewards for those who can resist opening it today.
