The Story

Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Rosé Millésimé is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir (100% “Grands Crus”), part of which (12%) is red wine from the vineyards of Bouzy, and 30% Chardonnay grapes.

The Chardonnay grapes, from the vineyards of the Côte des Blancs (100% “Grands Crus”), bring refinement and freshness to the composition. Only juices from the first pressing are used to ensure the structure and the long ageing potential so essential to this ...

Wine Information

2012 is the new release of the Comtes Rose, and it's a stunning vintage for this Tete de Cuvee Rose. As we mentioned in our last offer, Taittinger is a Champagne that we have enjoyed countless times and a House that we have tasted more than anywhere else. While the regular Comtes can be underrated, this is even more true for the Rose, and we have experienced this cuvee compete with some of the Best Roses like Cristal and Dom Perignon at a much...

Vintage 2012

The next most exceptional vintage since 2008. A truly difficult growing season saw severe frosts in the winter. March brought warmth but early budbreak made the vines vulnerable to spring frosts. Overall, the early growing season was wet, and mildew became a serious issue. However, conditions improved dramatically in the later summer months. An August heatwave resulted in a rapid accumulation of sugar, but fortunately the nights remained cool,...

Written Notes

The 2013 rendition of Taittinger’s pinnacle prestige rosé is an absolute triumph of architectural elegance, structural harmony, and pure varietal definition. In the glass, it commands attention with a gorgeous, pale salmon-pink hue highlighted by shimmering copper and delicate golden reflections. The mousse is exceptionally refined, throwing up an endlessly energetic, microscopic stream of persistent pearls.

The bouquet is highly sophisticated, tight initially, but unfurls beautifully with time in the glass. It opens with a vibrant, fragrant burst of wild strawberries, redcurrants, and blood orange zest, before diving into a more serious, deeply layered autolytic profile. Intricate aromas of freshly baked brioche, honeyed almonds, and warm pie crust reveal its extensive cellar aging, accented by an incredibly distinct frame of iodine-like salinity, crushed chalk, and a subtle whisper of white pepper.

On the palate, the wine balances the naturally high acidity of the cool 2013 growing season with a remarkably luxurious, caressing texture. The entry is sleek and tightly coiled, instantly driving a laser-focused core of tart pomegranate and ruby grapefruit flavors. The 15% still red wine integration provides a beautiful, vinous mid-palate weight and a sophisticated phenolic frame without ever feeling heavy. A chiseled, deep chalky minerality builds tension across the tongue, effortlessly counterbalancing the ripe fruit extract. The finish is remarkably long, clean, and crystalline, leaving behind lingering echoes of dried red fruits, savory spices, and a refreshing, salty mineral bite.

Drinking Window:

This 2013 prestige rosé is a classic champagne de garde. While its pristine fruit and mouthwatering freshness make it highly compelling to taste today, it is still in its youth and holds back immense potential. It will continue to gain magnificent toastiness and tertiary depth over the next two decades. Peak drinking window: 2026–2045+
