Written Notes

Deep dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, delicate edge brightening. Delicate herbal savouriness, nougat, dark cherry, a hint of clove, candied orange zest. Complex, juicy and silky, fine extract sweetness, nuances of black cherry and blackberry, fine, round tannins, fresh minerality on the finish, animating, hides its muscles perfectly, shows great length, secure and certain ageing potential. A classic.

Dark fruits, blackberries, nuanced, detailed, layered nose, scented and lifted, blueberries, floral, deep nose.
Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, detailed, dark fruits, liquorice, spices, nuanced, layered, lively, saline, beautiful intensity, long finish. Deep. 97-99

Dark purple colour with violet hue and almost black core. Excellent nose with fragrant fruit, blackberries, ripe black cherries, hints of violets and fine oak, elegant toasting and hints of gingerbread spices. On the palate ripe tannins with velvety texture, expressive fruit, rich taste with excellent length, elegance and freshness prevailing. A wine with precision and great depth.

A very fine and polished young VCC with subtle density and a racy backbone of tannins. Compact with well-toned muscles and a persistent finish. Very silky. Really grows at the end. 82% merlot and 18% cabernet franc.

  • 98p

Vieux Chateau Certan: 82% Merlot + 18% C. Franc. 14% alcohol. Intense violets and blueberries are present on the nose. It is distinguished and tender on the palate, mineral, with great complexity, vibrant, superb mid-palate, and has a long and persistent finish. Fabulous stuff. 97+p.
