History

At Brewer – Clifton, there is an utmost respect for nature. We believe that when working with a product of nature, it is necessary to always maintain an awareness of the elements and phenomena that are beyond our total understanding and control. If at any time that level of sensitivity is lessened, we risk the unavoidable degradation of the very goals that we are trying to pursue. As such, any intervention in the natural evolution of the produ...

Vineyards

We are incredibly fortunate to work and farm in this exceptional winegrowing region, unlike any other in the world. The unique transverse valleys funnel maritime influences through a small appellation replete with variations in soil, aspect and micro-climates to produce a patchwork of sites of character and distinction. One of the coolest climates on the west coast, Sta. Rita Hills also enjoys the longest growing season, making this a veritabl...

Winemaking

Our Brewer-Clifton vineyard team exclusively farms and manages five “monopole” vineyards, from which we receive 100% of the fruit. All vineyards are located within 8 miles of the winery and all grapes are harvested in the cool, early morning, arriving to the winery by 8:00 am. This focus achieves ultimate quality and balance in the wines.

Inside information

The wax seal

To penetrate the wax bottle seal, simply imagine that the wax is not there and drive right through it with a waiter’s style corkscrew. People

  • Robert Parker

In summary, it is clear that the wines of Brewer-Clifton are crafted by perfectionists seeking to produce something very distinctive and individualistic. As I noted above, many of these wines are better with age than I ever suspected, and they have the ability to improve dramatically in the bottle and last much longer than I imagined. Kudos to Greg Brewer and Steve Clifton.

BWW2025

VOTE NOW FOR YOUR FAVOURITE WINES FOR THE BEST WINE OF THE WORLD2025 -TITLE

"We believed the opinion of 10,000 consumers or 1,000 professionals to be more correct and more significant than a small group of wine professionals, when it comes to judging a wine competition - so, please vote!

BWW-The Best Wine of the World-competition is by far the toughest wine competition on this planet. Unlike any other industry competition, less than 1% of the wines involved will be awarded.

BWW is also the largest wine competition: The BWW competition has already received in total over 15 million votes. The voting time ends at the end of May 2025.
